About: I am Arab Canadian (working title) will be a 90-minute documentary that delves into the rich history of Arab pioneers who participated in shaping the Canadian landscape over a century ago. These stories echo the sentiment that Arabs are not just a recent addition to Canadian history but an integral and original part of its diverse tapestry.
Pitch:: The film will be the same style as “I am not your negro”. This documentary directed by Raoul Peck inspired me to how I will tell the Arab story in Canada. Maybe Arabs never faced what black people faced but still, Arabs faced discrimination.
It could be controversial, and it could be critical to talk about these subjects but mostly it's important to see the real picture. This will help diversity to have their own opinion.
Audience: Students in Universities and high schools in Canada will be my audience. My target is for this generation to understand more about Arabs. Few films talk about Arab history in Canada but not in detail or reveal the Arab story. It is an untold story. I have arrangements with human-rights organizations in Canada across the country. Some other Ethnic organizations across Canada welcome the project and show intention to sponsor events to show it.
This film also can be seen in Arab countries that like to know about their story in Canada.
